What We're Looking For
The Natural History Museum’s purpose is to inspire a love of our natural world and to help unlock answers to the big issues facing humanity and the planet. We are now embarking on a new digital strategy in support of that purpose, which aims to use digital technologies, platforms, and devices to significantly grow the number of people engaging with the Museum and its work, providing exceptional online experiences for everyone from those curious about nature to professional scientists.
In order to deliver our strategy we are looking for a Senior Web Developer (Front End) to work on the Museum’s public facing digital experience.
The Senior Web Developer will work within the Commercial product team in the Digital Media and Marketing Department, reporting directly to the Lead Developer. This team is responsible for optimising digital commercial conversions across a wide range of products to support Museum targets. The Senior Web Developer will collaborate with developers, UX and Visual Designers, Product and Content Managers and colleagues in the Marketing teams, as well as Platforms Engineers and Software Developers in the Technology Solutions department.
The Senior Web Developer will provide technical leadership in the application of front end technologies across a range of products for the Commercial team, including websites and other customer interfaces. They should have experience working with payment systems (such as Worldpay or Stripe), e-Commerce platforms such as Magento and enterprise Content Management Systems.
Maintaining awareness of emerging front-end technologies and line-managing other developers in the team, the Senior Web Developer will also help the Lead Developer to coordinate code releases and ensure best practices are followed.
Salary: £36,000 to £41,000 per annum plus benefits
